Powder Coating

This teal panel purposely displays bubbles/blisters to document a common powder-coating defect. Blistering often results from:
• Trapped air/volatiles from porous substrates (e.g., castings) or heavy film build
• Residual oils, silicone, or contamination on the surface
• Moisture in compressed air or powder; poor storage/pretreatment
• Under-/over-bake cure profiles or fast ramp rates that “skin” the film
Prevention practices include thorough degreasing and conversion coating, proper outgassing (pre-bake), verified earth/grounding, dry/filtered compressed air, controlled film thickness, correct oven profiling, and fresh, conditioned powder. The minimalist sample shows only the embossed BLUETEE logo to keep attention on the defect morphology and texture for documentation, training, or blog illustration.
